Our Story
It started with an old photo box full of video tapes.
These tapes documented much of my childhood in the early 2000s, from birthdays to family holidays and everything in between. As I grew older, technology progressed so rapidly that I no longer had a way to play the tapes. Within a few years, the box became their permanent home.
Our tapes spent years in a closet, collecting dust, as we said time and time again that we would convert our videos “someday.”
However, video tapes would only become more obsolete in the future, and the longer we waited, the greater risk our tapes had of damage or degradation. So, I undertook this project during quarantine, deciding that the “someday” for which we’d waited was finally here.
Quotes from other video transfer businesses put the term “priceless” to the test.
Nine of the leading competitors would have charged an average of $1045 to transfer my tapes to digital, not including the inherent risk or costs of shipping the tapes by mail. I knew there had to be a better way, so I invested in the necessary equipment and learned how to convert the tapes myself. Now, years of home video footage have not only been recovered, but they are more accessible to be watched, edited, and shared than ever before.
I saw a need for a business to serve other families like mine, who were holding on to old tapes, daunted by the costs or risk of shipping them across the country.
My family put off transferring our video tapes for years because we could not find an affordable service that we could trust. Now, we have immortalized moments that had been long forgotten, regrettable haircuts, and memories with family members who are no longer with us. I was able to preserve my family’s home videos to withstand the test of time and save hundreds of dollars in the process. Now, I’d like to help your family do the same!
